Phil Hill (1927-2008)
Just heard that Phil Hill, the first, and only US-born, American to win the Formula One world championship, passed away.

I'll write more over at The Speed Blog later, but for now - here's a classic image of Phil Hill as I'll always remember him, behind the wheel of a "shark-nose" Ferrari.

No matter what I think those era of formula cars are the best. I used to have a poster of Moss in the air in a similar beast when I was a kid.
